A Dream Deferred

Back at the beginning of February, I imagined sitting down around this time to write about completion of my midwifery clerkship and heading out into the big wide world as a Midwife.

Sadly, I can't share this news yet because my clerkship has been extended and I am now in the position of spending another six weeks here with no guarantee of success.

It has been a very difficult week and I am wondering at times, just why I am putting myself through this.

In the meantime, I hope to draw inspiration from Brigantia: she is the Celtic goddess of healing, fire and inspiration and her association with fire makes her the goddess of the family, hearth, childbirth and domestic accord.

Brigantia was also the goddess of the Brigantes of ancient Britain, whose kingdom centred on the area now known as Yorkshire. As I completed my midwifery training in Yorkshire, who could be a more appropriate source of inspiration?

Don't lose faith in what you had chosen to do. Be positive it will come right in the end. Most things we really want don't come easily and you have worked hard this far. Go girl you will get there.

Hi, Marie! Wonderful to see you posting here! And Brigantia as protector and inspiration for you is so fitting just now. I loved hearing about this goddess and her history/story. I'm am sorry though that you finish date is having to be extended, that things haven't gone to plan. Very much I hope that all will go well for you in the weeks ahead and that you will become the midwife you are training to be! May Brigantia bless you in that direction. :o) Wishing you all the very best, my friend. Happy Days ((BIG HUGS))

Stay focused Marie, and you will reach your goal. We all have doubts at times in our lives. Seek inspiration from what is a beautiful pendant. x

You are in my thoughts throughout this time Marie! Keep believing in yourself! There are reasons for all that happens to us so look for the answers and think positive.
