Back at the beginning of February, I imagined sitting down around this time to write about completion of my midwifery clerkship and heading out into the big wide world as a Midwife.
Sadly, I can't share this news yet because my clerkship has been extended and I am now in the position of spending another six weeks here with no guarantee of success.
It has been a very difficult week and I am wondering at times, just why I am putting myself through this.
In the meantime, I hope to draw inspiration from Brigantia: she is the Celtic goddess of healing, fire and inspiration and her association with fire makes her the goddess of the family, hearth, childbirth and domestic accord.
Brigantia was also the goddess of the Brigantes of ancient Britain, whose kingdom centred on the area now known as Yorkshire. As I completed my midwifery training in Yorkshire, who could be a more appropriate source of inspiration?
