Count Your Blessings

May you have warm words on
a cold evening.
A full moon on a dark night.
And the road downhill all the
way to your door.
Irish Blessing

It seems hard to believe that it has been a month since I last posted an update of my progress, but it has certainly been a busy time. After four weeks at my first address, I was forced to move yet again following landlord problems, so I am now living above a pub in the centre of town.

One of the reasons for not posting was my inability to load photographs. In this age of technology, I have now got a Blackberry and had used it on a few occasions to take some photos, but had no idea how to get them off the device and onto my computer. I finally worked out how to do it this afternoon, so here are a few pictures taken during the last couple of weeks.

I have had very little time off-call (only five days in the last two months), so I haven't had much time to go home. I am home at the moment because I came back to the city for a study day, but I have to be up early tomorrow to return to Lindsay because I am back on-call at 9 a.m.

I've been to a few births, including a home birth on Wednesday night. I am starting to find my feet again after a long break from midwifery, but the sheer volume of information/knowledge that I am expected to remember leaves my head spinning and I feel completely exhausted. Having said that, I am enjoying being back in the midwifery role and have met some lovely people.

It is seven weeks now since I started my placement and it is time to start job-hunting, as the vacancies are being posted. I don't expect to have much time to update my blog, but I will try to add short posts when time permits.
