Candlemas

If Candlemas Day be fair and bright,
Winter will have another flight;
But if it be dark with clouds and rain,
Winter is gone, and will not come again.

Traditional

Candlemas marks the mid-point between the Winter Solstice and the Spring Equinox. Yesterday, we had the most glorious afternoon with bright sunshine and mild (above zero!) temperatures. After weeks of cold, it was little wonder that people were smiling and I even heard that there were people outdoors in shorts!

I'm just hoping that the second half of winter will be much shorter than the first....

Well it wasn't too cold and parts of it was bright and sunny, inbetween the snow showers that is, so what has winter got left in store for us I wonder?

Me too...winter had been long and cold enough so far! We've had one of the coldest January months on record! Hope you are keeping warm and toasty, my friend :o) ((HUGS))

We started the day with sunshine and blue skies which slowly turned to darker clouds, and by mid afternoon had heavy snow falling... fingers crossed that the first part of the day holds the promise of Candlemas for us and for you too - hugs and warm wishes from Suffolk, England xx
